Wadi Rum

Wadi means "valley", and Rum probably comes from an Aramaic word meaning "elevated", which basically means this whole place is a contradiction in terms.  A desert area home to Bedouin tribes, best known as the location where T.E. Lawrence based his operations during the Arab Revolt of 1917-18.
